Walking Hinsdale County

Lake City, San Juan Mountains, Colorado. 2011

From performative redemptive walk in heritage mining town Lake City, located in San Juan Mountains in Southern Colorado, USA. The former intensive mining activity in this region has left a legacy of environmental damage such as acid mine drainage from tailing piles and water contamination in certain areas. The need for and use of metals in contemporary living implicates us all in the mining processes that continue to operate across the globe.

From Hardrock Revision, a transdisciplinary art science residency and think tank at the inactive Ute Ulay silver mine, Lake City, Colorado to revision future uses for the mine site. July – August 2011. hardrockrevision.blogspot.ie
